February: Focus, Faith, and Follow Through
Hello, February.
January moved fast, but before I let it blur into the rest of the year, I want to sit with it for a moment. It was full, it was intentional, and it reminded me why I love building things that bring people together.
For the past few months, I’ve been deep in the work of planning and producing A Seat at the Table: Women in Media on Leadership and Longevity.
This was my third event for women in film and media in Los Angeles, and last Saturday, alongside my friend and business partner Jade McCrary, we finally brought it to life.
We welcomed over 100 women into the room, representing companies like FOX Sports, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Amazon, and more! The space was filled with producers, executives, creatives, and storytellers who are actively shaping the media industry and figuring out how to do it with intention and staying power.
The day unfolded through a series of honest conversations around mentorship, executive leadership, creativity, and longevity. We heard from women who have worked their way up in corporate media, greenlit major projects, and built sustainable careers in film. Jade and I closed the event with a fireside chat, sharing our own career journeys, the lessons we’ve learned along the way, and why creating spaces like this matters so much to us.
The event was everything I could’ve asked for and more. Attendees left with real, actionable career advice, clearer insight into how this industry actually works, and a renewed sense of confidence about taking their next step.
It felt like the right way to start the year. Grounded, aligned, and full of momentum.
Which brings me to February. This month isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what’s aligned and doing it well. Here’s what I’m focusing on next.
February Personal Goals
📌 Research for my first independent Film project.
Yes… it’s really happening. I’m in the early research and development phase and taking my time to get it right. If you want to follow along (and get updates as they come), make sure you’re following @rayaclayproductions on Instagram 😉
📌 Connect with at least 5 new industry professionals
Intentional conversations only this month. I’m prioritizing relationship building, learning from people a few steps ahead of me, and expanding my creative community in meaningful ways.
📌Finish Reading “Year of Yes” by Shonda Rhimes
My boyfriend’s mom gifted me this book for Christmas, and I’m already halfway through. It’s a memoir about the year Shonda decided to say yes to things that scared her and pushed her outside her comfort zone. It’s funny, honest, and a timely reminder to lean into opportunities instead of talking yourself out of them. I can’t wait to finish it.
📖 Faith to Fuel the Journey
Proverbs 16:3 - “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
This verse felt especially fitting as I step into new projects and relationships with intention. It reminds me that clarity doesn’t come from having everything figured out. It comes from offering the work first and trusting God to order the steps as I move.
